Coming to the clearing of Sonnenhausen for the first time it feels like being in a completely different world. A microcosm 30 km southeast of Munich: nature, silence, relaxation, enjoyment. That is where the Alps start. Looking south from the slightly higher located Gut Sonnenhausen you are treated with a splendid view of the rolling hills of Upper Bavaria – with small hamlets and steeples on top.
It is a natural environment and despite its proximity to Munich it is not affected by rapid urban development, but is rather characterised by its intact agriculture, which is worth protecting. That is there we ended up 25 years ago looking for a location for our organic farming project “Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten”. Gut Sonnenhausen belongs to the Schweisfurth family as does the business “Herrmannsdorf” which is located in a distance of 3 km.
In the past 12 years Gut Sonnenhausen has developed itself into a successful venue for meetings and conferences. On weekends you can celebrate here, for example in our historic indoor riding hall which belongs to the stud farm or in the 1835 built farm house one of the most beautiful in our region (bookable from 2012). Our chefs treat you with seasonal and regional organic food which is freshly prepared and served. Of course you can also spend the night. Gut Sonnenhausen offers you a great variety of nice and quiet rooms.
During summer we grow fresh salads and vegetable in our organic market garden: stored sun energy from sunny Sonnenhausen! Young cattle of an organic dairy farmer from the neighbouring village graze on the 25 hectares of grassland. Moreover there is a breed of Shagya Arabs as well as a (so far) small herd of Shropshire sheep (an old English breed). The organic farm in Sonnenhausen is certified by BIOKREIS, a German non-governmental organisation for organic agriculture, and our organic cuisine by the certification services provider ABCert. One day our small wood will be providing the wood chips for our wood chip heating system (… which does not exist yet). Swimming ponds are built by “Hammer und Kampermann”, wedding dresses and other wonderful things are created by YUBI – both of them working at Gut Sonnenhausen.
